How Does a Blog Help You Build a Business | blogging

Blogging is one of the most popular and effective ways to promote your business to the on-line world was the answer I gave to my wife when she she asked me what I was doing.

She sees me at my desk every day, not saying much, and typing away.  Of course, the way I type always gives her a laugh. On a good day I’m probably sixty words per minute with gusts of up to 80 words a minute. I tell her blogging is a great way to interact with your target market.   And that it’s one of the most important activities for Online Lead generation.  When done correctly, you can get instant feedback from your audience and show them that you are a professional at what you do. Your blog will give you a world-wide presence with the click of the Publish button. After explaining to her that successful bloggers generate 67% more leads for their business than those that don’t she asks “leads for what?”

Well, for my Network Marketing business – that’s what!

She still doesn’t understand exactly what blogging is but she does know what network marketing is.  And she likes it because it puts money into our bank account!  What she also understands about network marketing is that it takes a lot of work in the beginning and she doesn’t see much of me at night, or Saturday mornings.  That brings the conversation back to blogging and why it can be such an important activity for someone wanting to be successful at Network Marketing and Internet Marketing.

 For my Internet Marketing business!

Now, she understands Network Marketing but when it comes to Internet Marketing she REALLY doesn’t understand it.  Nor does she really want to.  Of course, its like me trying to understand what she does which is some complicated stuff.

So, what is blogging any way?

As a rule, my first place to look is Wikipedia as such, per Wikipedia:

Blog – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A blog (a contraction of the words web log) is a discussion or informational site                                         published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) …

To put it as simply as possible – a blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom.

So, “blogging” is when you add new material to your blog.  To have a successful blog you need to always, like daily, be adding content to your blog.  A blog is like a living, dynamic, webpage.  You can interact with your target audience by using a blog as opposed to a static website.

If you want to create and promote your blog one of the obstalces to overcome to make it successful is to get your blog seen.  For most people this can be daunting task as is it to setup correctly in the beginning. Some of the obstacles is to get your blog to rank. How much time does it take your blog to rank in the SERPS.  And most important, is it on the first page of Google?

One of the biggest hurdles a blogger faces is patience. Very few sites reach 100,000 pageviews in 3 months or 6 months. Few are able to build amazing, interactive communities overnight.
